Question   Teleconverter at your Lowapro
Hi Rhonda Maurer,

Need your professional advise...

From the website at your lowapro you have Tamron 2x SP Pro Teleconverter, do you know this Teleconverter can use with my Tarmon 28-300MM A06 Lens or not ? How is the quality out from Camera when you use it. ( If possible can give me some picture using Teleconverter with maximum zoom )

Do you please share some experience about using Teleconverter for your Tamron (70~300MM), and what is the price you purchase.

I like to take wild picture, now with Tamron Lens (28~300mm), please to get one Teleconverter too.

Regards,
Nelson Khor

-  November 18, 2003

  Answer Hi Nelson,
I am not familiar with the 28-300mm but the information on the lens states "for telephoto lenses 90mm & longer, with maximum apertures f2.8 and larger." Tamron's site would be the best place to check on your particular lens.
I have used the teleconverter very little just because I have not had the time. The few times that I have used it I really like it. I have to manually focus the camera with the teleconverter on and it really needs a lot of light. I would also highly recommend using a tripod when you are using the teleconverter.
I purchased mine at B&H Photo Video for $194.95. Here is a link at B&H for the teleconverter:

I have also included a link showing you two photos taken, one without the teleconverter and one with.
Teleconverter comparison
I hope that this information has been of some help. Please feel free to contact me anytime with any questions you might have and thank you for visiting my site.

Question   Ooops
Hi Rhonda; In the last comment that I left at your site I said that I would be checking up on your site regularly. Well...I lied :-( Life seems to be moving just a little too fast lately. Unfortunately, it was my loss as I went way too long without renewing my appreciation of the fine work that you do! Your photos are always exceptional and they just keep getting better and better. One of my most pleasant surprises this time was the photos of the frogs and toads that I haven't seen before. The composition, clarity and detail of all those photos are very impressive. I also ran into some new small back yard bird photos. I always love the photos of those little ones and the latest are no exception. Just keep raising the bar, Rhonda and I'll keep trying to catch up. I will certainly be back to visit your site again, but this time I won't make any rash promises as to how often ;-) Hope the remainder of the year brings you many perfect photo opportunities, Gary

- Gary H. Minish October 14, 2003

Answer Oh Gary you are just so incredibly sweet! Oh, hey listen, your photos, especially your landscapes are just stunning! It is I who will keep trying to catch up.
That's ok, you don't have to make any rash promises:-) I know that you are there and we catch up when we can and you usually pop in at just the right moment when I need some very uplifting words from a dear friend.
I have a trunk full of bird seed and will be making the backyard birds, and of course the squirrels, very happy. So stay tuned:-)
Thanks so much!
Rhonda

Question   ALL of your work!
My "companion" (ED) and I visited Dickson Mounds Museum (IL) on 15Jul03. I have lived in IL most of my life and had NEVER been to the museum. With him I experienced the Native American history for the first time in my life! It was awesome! Also I saw your fabulous work at the museum!

I am definitely partial to the Bald Eagle and panda bears and your photos of the eagles brought me to tears!

ALL of your work is awesome-------you are quite talented! Keep up the good work!

I plan on telling all of my friends and family about your site!

-  July 29, 2003

  Answer Pamela,
That is fantastic that you and Ed were able to visit Dickson Mounds Museum. I just love it there. Everyone is so nice. I love to visit them and the museum.
Thank you so very much for your wonderful comments! You are so kind! It feels really good to know that others enjoy my work as much as I love photographing those beautiful creatures.
Also thank you for passing on the word about my web site, that is truly appreciated. Stop in often and check out the new additions.
Thanks again for your wonderful note.

Question   WOW
Just like the others who have viewed your photos, I am simply blown away, speechless, and in awe of your amazing work. My dream and goal is to take break taking photos like these. I am just an amature starting out and have a long way to go. You are such an inspiration to me as I'm sure you are to others.
Keep up the magnificent work!!!!

-  July 23, 2003

Answer Oh bless your heart Maryann! You are so kind! Thank you so very much, I truly appreciate it.
When I first started out, I wanted everyone to see what I saw. Things that may always be around and things that I may see once if I am lucky. Just the thought of having captured some beautiful creature in a photo and then maybe never seeing that creature again in my entire lifetime just fascinates me. That probably sounds corny but it is truly how I feel.
For wonderful people such as yourself to enjoy my photos so much just absolutely means the world to me and I thank you for that.
Thank you so very much for your uplifting note.

Question   Love your photography!!!!!
Wow! I am blown away by all of your great images. Your favorite subjects are the same as mine - birds, butterflies, dragonflies, flowers, wildlife.... I love all of your bird close-ups. I have become an avid birder in the past year and I would love to get some of the shots you have. It seems that you have lots of feeders and a pond in your yard to attract all of your friends. :-) It is harder for me because I live in a condo, but I do hang out at the local ponds and wildlife spots.

Until now I have only had a 80-200mm lens so my birds just aren't big enough in the frame. I just got a 80-300mm lens and I am going to get a 2x converter for it as well. What focal length lens do you use for your bird, butterlies and dragonflies? I have to say I was surprised that you shoot all digital - the quality of the images are great!

Keep up the good work!

~Kelly~

- Kelly S. Andrews July 23, 2003

  Answer Kelly,
Thank you so much for your wonderful note. I just love the birds so much. Maybe you could hang a small feeder up at your condo. If you put sunflower hearts in the feeder it won't make a mess. I bet you would have all kinds of visitors.
I almost always use my Tamron 70-300mm lens for my bird, butterfly and dragonfly shots.
I just got a new macro lens so I can't wait to get some extreme closeups.
Thank you so much again for visiting and for your wonderful comments. Stop by often.

Question   Big Mistake
It's been a while since I've visited your gallery and I can only say that I really blew it by watching your betterphoto gallery for updates instead of your web site! ALL of your new photos are amazing and They're getting better all the time! Your photos have always been exceptional but now I see a subtle change that is a step up in sophistication, precision and composition! As always I am VERY impressed with your work and hope some day to have the opportunity and skills to shoot animal photos as fine as yours. You can rest assured that I won't make the same mistake twice. I WILL be visiting your site frequently to see what new jewels you've scattered about :-)

- Gary H. Minish June 19, 2003

Answer Oh my goodness Gary! I am speechless! And believe me that does not happen often, just ask my family:-)
Saying thank you does not begin to express how much I appreciate your kind words. It really means quite a bit to me as I am in awe of your landscapes.
I am sorry, it never dawned on me that you might be following my galleries. The first gallery was one that I won from BetterPhoto. At the time that I got that one there was a small limit on the photos that you could have, so I didn't do much with that. The other two galleries that I have were from being voted "Best In Class" and "Top Photographer" for the two online courses I took with BetterPhoto. I did not change those photos because they were picked by Jim from the work I did in the courses and I was just so proud of those that he picked that I did not want to change them.
You probably thought that I had fallen off the face of the earth:-)
Once your caught up with all the photos on the web site you can then just check the "Current Additions" link on my homepage because I always put new photos there for a while.
I am just so happy that you found me again:-)
Thanks again for your wonderful, kind comments on my photos, it is truly appreciated.
Most Sincerely,
Rhonda
